In the space between moments

0 posted 1999-10-30 09:31 PM

A golden moon is threaded within the sky,
As upon the wind a troubled breath sighs.
Many a year his soul has remained alone,
Only within the night has his spirit shown.

The heavens glittered upon one twilight eve,
And pain wasn't as dark as it usually seemed.
The wind stirred the softened emerald grass,
And by him, slightly clouded memories passed.

Her eyes struck him first, a deep azure gaze,
Reminding him of life's more meaningful days.
Upon her body laid a sheath of pearled white,
And her image glistened with a blissful light.

Tendrils of music swept over the quiet horizon,
Brightening the blackness like a midnight sun.
He beheld her beauty with an unafraid glance,
And softly asked if he may have this dance.

Her head nodded gently and he took her hand,
The touch unlocking the mysteries of the sands.
In awe he beheld eternity's forbidden secrets,
Floating within her eyes, now softly candlelit.

Upon her rain-scented lips love's fragrance rose,
Her very presence making long lost splendor grow.
The strange embrace seemed to continue forever,
Though only a single moment were they together.

As quick as the magic began, she whispered goodbye,
And with not a glance back she broke all earthy ties.
Their first dance had actually been the very last,
But the presence of their love will never pass.

His abandoned soul is once again painfully alone,
His true self never again destined to be shown.
But upon his face he wears a glimmer of a smile,
For after all, the dance had lasted a little while.

I'm really sorry I missed reading this one from my mailbox. This piece really struck a chord in me, quite beautiful, my friend! I love it, another striking piece, I bow before the Queen.. :-)

Thank you so much. Dusk-- A special thank you to you, for everything lately. I don't know where I'd be without your friendship and encouragement....you're truly a jewel.
