Your portrait belongs in my hallway In line with my father In his beaver top hat, Brocaded vest and frock coat, Holding his gold Dubie pocket watch Looking prosperous, Before he lost the mine at Silverton. Your portrait belongs in my hallway Beside my mother in The chestnut oval frame. She looks like me in brown taffeta, Her hoop skirt allowing a glimpse of Her gold kid high button dancing shoes, Worn the day she had the stroke And lost the use of her legs. She is holding a book she read to me About a prince in a fairy tale And I want her to know You did come riding by So late... But you came. Your portrait belongs in my hallway Next to mine So all will someday see How the flash caught you Caught me Smiling like Sunday's children Suspended in a time When we were all winning. |

Welcome to the family! This poem feels like it should be printed on parchment paper, framed and hung in that same hallway! And your story has a moral - someday your prince will come - even if you have to wait a bit for him! |

The last two stanzas really tied things up nicely ... Very sweet. Red |
