[scene: Two guys having a beer at a bar. One guy turns to the other and says….]

A woman’s gotta shop
For new clothes to wear
There’s money for her nails
Massages and her hair.

A movie or maybe two
Dinners out with friends
Running tight on cash
Where will it all end?

Her heart’s stretched to its limit
Her love budget isn’t balanced
She’s cut wasteful spending
And even her allowance.

We all have excess baggage
Things we’d rather just forget
But they make us who we are
And who we become, and yet

It’s good to pause and take stock
And lighten our emotional load
And make sure we’re on a fresh path
Not the same old winding road.

But when I told her to consider
Getting out of her rut
I never ever expected
To be a corner she would cut!

Cutting corners, my oh my!
I was her corner before she said goodbye
Cutting corners has rounded me out
And taught me what life’s about.

So next time you feel, like giving free advice
To a friend overloaded, you better think twice!
You could end up like me, knocking on a door that’s shut
Friend, you just might be, the next corner she cuts.

elvira...you are doing a wonderful job of digging up ones that somehow were missed...I truly enjoyed this too...Sorry I missed it the first time around Genea!

Thanks everyone...i like to do that too - search thru the 'archives' for an overlooked poem from my fellow poets.

Genea, this sounds surprisingly close to what Balladeer might write...is he taking a leaf out of YOUR books?
