The banquet started years ago And everybody able Brought a special covered dish To set upon the table.... The appetizers all came first... Swedish meatballs on a stick, Vienna sausage, nice and plump, Wrapped in bacon on toothpicks. Then the salads, fresh and moist, Really were a blessing. Islandic lettuce covered with French or Russian dressing. Polish sausage was displayed. Danish hens were, too, And don't forget the Swiss cheese steak Or pot of Irish stew. Morrocan chicken on a bed Of Mexican fried rice, German sauerkraut on the side Made it VERY nice. Columbia coffee there to sip. The English tea was ,too. The Spanish wine was SO devine And Scotch was there for you. French pastries came out for dessert And, for those so inclined, A humidor of fine cigars From Cuba, one could find. It is the greatest banquet That the world will ever see. The table is America And everything is free! |

Wonderfully satisfying to my metaphorical hunger! Congratulations on another well-done work of poetry! Though I am still new to "Passions In Poetry", I have come to really enjoy your writing, and I look forward to the time when I can read another one of your masterpieces. |

Nothing like a melting pot full of stew and a tossed salad on the side. Good going! |

Wonderful poem, sir! Sometimes we forget the common every day things like having enough food to eat is another symbol of our freedom. (could I please have some cornbread and chili?) |
