Life is never simple, for the world is not all black and white. There's no solid definition of what is wrong and what is right. Some say it's just opinion, while others claim it's point of view. It's even been said that we made it all up! Are any of these true? They're all feeble attempts to explain all the shades of gray that force us to chose; one side or the other each and every day. It leaves it all up to us to decide which way is best. Whether it be opinion, perspective, or illusion, it's meant to put us to the test. Life won't do it for us, it's WE who have to figure out how to separate all the "in the middle", so there's never any doubt. But we haven't yet, so it's up to us to decide from wrong and right. And what an overwhelming task that is, for the world's not all black and white. |

I liked your poem. Shades of Gray is suitable to characterize life...because in life there are many colors. When you add all the colors together you get black...which is a darker shade of gray... carman |

The truth I say I'm rather gray In these shadows are where I'll stay. For, What is black? What is white? What is wrong? And, What is right? The colors seem to change from day to day. Emmy: your poem is the perfect shade of gray. |
