I sit waiting for someone else knowing they won't show up but protecting that flame in spite I begin to wonder about powers of suggestion closing my eyes breathing deeply inwardly I chant your name and fear keeps me in utero fear that open eyes will reveal you fear that open eyes won't reveal you I am between here and there in both but also neither I won't step back because I know I won't step forward because I don't how long can I stay? how long can you take? forever is frightening but never is painful and I have been hurt for so long I can't just let things happen I can't just let go because you are too wonderful Yet who has ever gained from holding on to nothing I feel like crying but I don't know why so I sit and clasp my own hands waiting |
