I stare at myself in the mirror and I am struck by the knowledge that I will never marry. I will never feel that comfortable. And the older I get the less comfortable I feel- in this skin this body this mind too inexperienced to make much sense too experienced to just let it go. I stumble and fall into each new thing, waiting and wanting for this to be real. And I keep losing keep failing keep letting it get the best of me that there is hardly anything left... Nothing left- anyone else would want. Nothing left- I would want them to have. ------------------ And I thought: this is how poetry is born. It comes from invisible heights, it is secret and dark in its origins, solitary and fragrant, and like the river it will assimilate whatever falls in its current; it will seek a route between the mountains, and its crystalline song will ripple through the meadows."- Pablo Neruda |

I have looked in the mirror and felt that way, like all was at a loss and there was nothing more I could offer. I like how it is put together, it is like looking in the mirror and having a memory come back to you. It's beautiful, but sad.. and the three lines: ----------------- And I keep losing keep failing keep letting it get the best of me that there is hardly anything left... ----------------- I'm flattered. Be strong and look inward for all the good things in yourself. But still, the knowledge that you will never marry, it can't be that bad enough. Refuse to think like that, there is too much in life to lose. If you think you've lost everything except perhaps your dignity, maybe there's one thing you have gained along the way that pays for the rest, and that's wisdom. Henry Thoreau once said something like 'life is like the surface of a pond.' [This message has been edited by Nimrod the Hunter (edited 06-29-99).] |

wow. thanks guys. the original title of this was "this morning 9:28am or acceptance comes early" but it seemed too wordy.... this was written a few years ago and only sometimes (maybe not always) do I still feel this way. thank you for all the kind words. I take them to my heart with me as I dream. --Christina |
