this was published this year by the International Library of Poets. rituals rituals, we all live with them, but what are they really? are they church on sunday, dinner together on wednesday night, praying for forgiveness on saturday night, or are they ..... something more? rituals are as old as mankind - maybe even older. they only change that's all. what once was - is now no longer, and what is now - was once unheard of. rituals - once they were the act of dipping a sharpened stick into ink and tapping it with a hammer ..... tapping it into fresh, clean, unblemished skin - beautifying that plain skin. making it special. rituals - once they marked the onset of a new journey. the journey of mysteries. this journey is filled with emotions - joy, sorrow, pride and pain. when one endures this ritual - all those emotions are experienced. this journey is a spiritual, lifetime quest and the art of this ritual is also spiritual and can sometimes take a lifetime. the symbols formed during this ritual are personal and represent only the one they adorn. many are repulsed by what they see, for what they see is only ink. they fail to see the joy, the sorrow, the pride and the pain - all the emotions which the ritual expresses. perhaps they have yet to begin that secret journey. ~ celtic rose ~ |

I love this... it truly makes you think (a sign of good writing!) and now I find my own mind turing to the rituals that I have... Very good. Bravo! -C [This message has been edited by Christina Myers (edited 06-27-99).] |
