(a villanelle) Our lives could be just as we've planned; Each day's forecast our own devise If we were granted Sleight of Hand. Divergency we'd not withstand In staid agenda naught reprise Our lives could be just as we've planned Exigency meets our command Dare not eschew nor compromise If we are granted Sleight of Hand Such stringency invites remand Contentious staunch sinew belies Our lives shan't be just as we've planned Felicity in fain so grand In dreams undoffed we'll fantasize If we are granted Sleight of Hand Existence swept as grain of sand Fulfillment appetence descries Our lives shan't be just as we've planned If we are granted Sleight of Hand [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 06-10-99).] |

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! Nan, I am most fortuned indeed to have met you, as you have demonstrated prosaic forms unknown to this oft-dull mentality. Thank you most kindly, m'lady! ------------------ Le Jongleur Aspirante |

this is in a class all of it's own. You did a great job with it. Lot of thought from you and for the reader. |

Big deal. Any superhuman, brilliant, one-of-a-kind, educated, articulate genius could have written this! |

Reminds me of Sun Tzu's "Art Of War." Except on a grander scale, and much more beautifully said. Who says poetry can't cross Nationalistic boundaries? Taoist philosophy, written in impeccable English, cast in a French format... |
