Shining

I am Darkness, I am shadow,
I am an uncried tear.
She is brightness, she is the glow -
Of sunshine ever near.

I am sadness, melancholy,
I am the voice of rain.
She is gladness, she is folly,
The recompense of pain.

I am torture, I am shame,
I am the touch of sorrow.
She is pleasure. Passion untame,
She is hope for tomorrow.

I am alone, and in my fear -
I am as cold as ice.
She is comfort, warm and dear,
A glimpse of paradise.

And yet somehow our souls connect -
In the lucidity of dream.
Where a magic only her eyes reflect -
Has made the Darkness gleam.

Thank for showing that even the Dark can love. Hail and well met.

This is great, I loved the way you went from your darkness to her brightness, and how in the end they could connect.

Michael, Michael, Michael... reading your poetry is like going to a symphony.... I sit in enjoyment and sigh.... wishing the music would go on and on...

Perfection again! Lovely, sad, beautiful..there are not enough words left in the dictionary to describe your work. One at at time they are wonderful..together, magnificent!

Oh Michael, I don't know when you wrote this, but it's absolutely beautiful.....what can I say, this has left me breathless....I'm in awe with the magic that you speak.

Your quite welcome DreamEvil.
For everyone else, thank you for the compliments.

As for when I wrote this, Femme, just be careful not to smudge the ink - it's still quite fresh.

He was mister Hot and she was mrs. Cold
He was mister Nickel-plate and she was mrs. Gold
He was mr. Snails, my friend, and she was Escargot
And so they lived quite happily, as everybody knows.

Excellent job, Michael
