I dreamed a dream of me and you
Of kids who laughed the whole day through
So long ago when all was new;
I dreamed a dream that you've dreamt too.

I dreamed of days that long are past
Of special times that went too fast;
The best of times - since unsurpassed;
I dreamed of days not meant to last.

I dreamed a dream not long ago
Of kinder times - that children know;
I'm still warmed by its after-glow;
I dreamed a dream of long ago.

I dreamed a dream of you and me;
Of innocence and revelry;
Of tranquil times quite trouble-free;
I dreamed a dream of 'used to be'.

(Note:  I haven't been able to get on the site for almost a week.  System problems of some sort. No one seems to know what though.
Software Support says it must be a Hardware problem and Hardware says it must be a software problem.  All this to say thank you to swan, pen of passion,INclan, caroline and HOOT-OWL_RN FOR your comments on my previous submissions.  I would have thanked you sooner if I could have gotten in!  Thanks again!)

dsnyder - Your poetry is exceptional - You've obviously a very discerning eye for rhyme and meter - I'm really going to enjoy having you around here.... Keep 'em coming, please?

This is quite a well written verse, dsnyder. Very nice to meet you, btw. This is the first I've read by you. The lines which were particularly effective to me were "The best of times- since unsurpassed;/ I dreamed of days not meant to last". Those two lines hold more truth than some people realize. I'll look forward to reading more of your work.

Thank you kindly, Nan, Balladeer and Doreen for you kind words. I'm glad that I finally have a forum for my poetry. I must have submitted my works to every publisher of every kind during the past year and never got a response, one way or the other. I'm so glad that Passions in Poetry lets us frustrated artists have an outlet! Thanks again!
