Minutes stretch into hours, Hours stretch to days. Each one that passes uncertain, Like corners and turns in a maze. The weeks without you are lonely, The years apart seem so long. The weekends I long for on Monday, Are slow to arrive, then quickly are gone. My fingers long to touch you My lips want to taste your skin. My body aches to be near you My arms want to hold you again. The strain on our marriage is constant. Will the pain in my heart never ease? My mind is filled with thoughts of you And the promises I pray you believe. To love you, honor and keep you Until by death we must part. Time can never erase the warmth Or the love that I feel in my heart. My dreams are filled with your image You haunt my days with your smile. My mind brings you home to be with me. Love can not be erased by the miles. So I will sit and watch time tick The minutes the hours each day. The weeks the years may pass us by. My love for you lights the way. |
