From the front steps she watched him work in the yard. Seemed to her he liked to work real hard. To this golden haired little girl the man in the garden was the king of her world. She noticed as he worked with his hands, how his muscles seemed bigger than any other mans. How the sun shined off his hair and how he handled the fruit with such care. She then noticed the gleem in is eye, and it was obvious to her the reason why. This tall man that she called dad, this king of her castle, her personal Sir Galahad... Was a man of pride, and strong bearing, and from his face you could tell he was caring. It was obvious to her that for him one thing gave him joy and put a smile on his face like that of a small boy... The object of his affection, the love to which he gave so much attention. Could you guess the one thing that put that gleem in his eye that gave his existence a reason why? You see for the little girl knew the truth, for she had amazing insight for some one of her youth. She understood, though it brought pain. How clear the truth was and how it would always remain. That it was not the little girl that made him king of his world. But rather the orchard was the reason why, and the fruit he grew was the apple of his eye. This is inherently sad. Word of comment: please work a little on your spelling/grammar. It draws away from what is otherwise a nice piece of work. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more. ------------------ Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. ~~~ KRJ Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
