Listen! Can you hear it? A death-wail carried on the wind! It is heard after senseless destruction on a grand scale. It is a gut-wrenching, soul-splitting sound. It is heard: When a species becomes extinct! When a rain forest is leveled! When a forest is clear cut! When a wetland is filled in! When children suffer and die needlessly! Listen! Can you hear it? A death-wail carried on the wind! It is a heart-rending, Spirit-raping alarm everyone should hear. But only a few of us do, and we know its message. And we weep as another small piece of us dies also. Listen! Can you hear it? A death-wail carried on the wind! If everyone could hear this alarm, The sound would violate your entire being! If no one were able to shut it out, The sound would be deafening! If no one were able to run of hide from this alarm, If everyone could feel it down to the essence of their being. I agree, it is hard to bring a whole world into awareness, but every little bit of effort is helpful & most appreciated by every one you touch & help...My philosophy is, if I can just touch one person, or make the least bit of difference in just one person's life...then I've done what I set out to do, and my efforts were worth my while..... ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..." Thank u so much for your comments. This came from one statement I heard, "When a species becomes extinct, there is no alarm!" I stuck with me and "Listen!" was the end result. Sharon Lee Rotondi (Enotneicna) |
