to all who open this to read, my request is simple but I plead that you open your heart and let these words make their mark for what I have to say is simple but true so I pray that even if they are simple they will effect you you see, I looked into a fish bowl today and what I saw was you and me the water was polluted to the worst possible degree. filth, crime and hatred were thick as could be random shootings a common sight death was everywhere as if it brought some demented delight life meant nothing and so many of us were so cruel nothing was sacred even our children were becming targets with mass murders in our schools blood shed was greater than in any war I turned my head in disgust cause the sight was starting to sicken me and I couldn't take anymore I asked myself how can we clean this up and a little voice told me that the answer could be found in the sea not sure what this meant I thought of the waters of the mighty blue and after sometime I realized the answer lied within me and you you see life can be like the sea of tranquility when we replace the hatred with serenity by filling our days peace and our nights with joy and learning that it is still possible to live harmoniously my thoughts went to the sea and how all that inhabit it are protected by its very being so must we learn to protect that which we believe in and love for just existing together is not nearly enough as the moon effects the tides that moves the sea so must we learn to accept the winds of change and adapt accordingly we must learn that love and peace are up to you and me and as the summer breeze lends itself to the sea so must we learn to live together and allow our differences to create the perfect melody allowing our lives to unite and become a symphony serenading our minds and supplying peace and serenity maybe my words may be vague but my point is true if we want a better world it realy is up to me and you so lets throw away our differences and come together living in peace and harmony lets put away our guns and our hatred and make our waters blue rather than red lets teach our children to love and hope that it will be enough I look forward to the day i can look into that fish bowl and see that all of us our swimming in the sea of tranquility ------------------ alan f. shulver [This message has been edited by poohbear (edited 08-16-99).] |

I think this is an ideal for our world that many want to reach, poohbear. It is hard sometimes to wake up and not be be filled with despair at what we humans are doing to our planet - but remember, there is love and hope too. Your poem is nice and your sincerity shines through. Stay hopeful. |
