This poem goes back several months, before these forums became a reality, to what seems like a life-time ago. In another forum, smaller than this one but filled with the same sense of camaraderie, three wonderful people harangued me with flattery and nudged me to write more. This poem, using quotes from their posts, was my answer. A Gathering of ThreadsI saw a daft woman aside the road Sacrificing her coat on bended knees, Bravely braving the Phoenix cold - A victim, it seemed, of rhymer's disease. With amazing traces of deified faces, And a rhyme scheme not easily ignored, In quatrain litanies of Hallmark phrases, She argued, "Virtue is its own reward." Imagine my cry, when out of the sky, From the Sunshine came an answering rhyme. In meter it spoke, with question replied Softly, "You do this all in your spare time?" With eyes now a'tear, my heart full of cheer, Of my gratitude I softly told her. Then a sense of genius I felt grow near, And a hearty hand fell to my shoulder. Draped in gray robes of unspoken hopes, His voice spoke in verse of quieter times, When worthy words were more easily wrote And we shared, as friends, our favorite rhymes. I nodded my head at the words he said, In my heart knowing I couldn't decline To follow his path where ever it led, As he added, "Kick down with a fresh line." I gathered my friends in digital arms, My smiles growing at the simple request. If patience be virtue, what be the harm Of simply trying my digital best? The victim of rhymer's disease, the Sunshine that so often responds in verse, and the genius in robes of unspoken hope are all here, amonst you. Can you guess who they might be? |

ummm... you, Nan, Poet deVine.... etc... hehehe Wonderful poem, Ron! I would like to think that this family here is made up of "threads" that add to this "spool!" Okay, it's too early in the morning to be philosophical... Any way, great piece! I like it a lot! ------------------ ~onevoice~ "She looked at her life like lines, never-ending, constantly forming, reforming and bending." |

I am not one of the three. Guesses should be more specific, too. Based on their posts here, who is represented by each of the characters mentioned? The clues are, as always, in their words (and images - there's a hint for you!). (And thanks - glad you liked it one voice!) |

You're welcome, Ron. I was just teasin' ya... I will read it again tomorrow when I can think more clearly... I'm very tired. After some much needed sleep, I will have an answer for you! (oh, thanks for the hints!) ------------------ ~onevoice~ "She looked at her life like lines, never-ending, constantly forming, reforming and bending." |

Don't laugh, Michael (though you have every right to do so ), but I have a mild case of bronchitis and slept my day away in a drug-crazed state. I'm enjoying the ability to think clearly again while it lasts... Glad you enjoyed the post. I've been waiting for the opportunity and am very glad it is now appropriate. |

What are we doing up at this hour? Ron, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Perhaps a little chicken soup for the soul would help? No matter who posts a poem here, it's always a treat to read something from you. You have gathered some wonderful threads and made a digital coat of many colors here on the internet. (I'm not implying that you are God, not the God but a god! Smile and feel better soon! |

I am also glad, Ron. Thanks. BTW - check your email if you're still on-line. I just wanted to say hello to Poet Devine also. Seems sleep is highly overrated, huh? Michael |

Geesh - A girl tries to get a little sleep around here - at a reasonable hour for sleep, no less - and you guys are partying without me... Why didn't someone wake me up???? ------------------ Nay, if our wits run the Wild-Goose chase, I am done: For thou hast more of the Wild-Goose in one of thy wits, Than I am sure I have in my whole five. ~ ²1592 Wm. OK - I know this may sound like conceit, But I'm either the coat or the wet street. As for the poets Ron kept in disguise, There're so many in here, I'll mute my replies. Ron - nice little bit of thread weaving there. The tapestry grows as we each learn new knots and stitches. A steadying hand serves well the master and the apprentice. |

Oh my Lord, I just found this one and my heart leaped when I read about "Sun" could it be me? I thought with a gasp then thought of all the poets, and fell in relapse. I see our great lady Poet DeVine, for she writes ever so, "just fine" and for some reason the gray robed guy to me has to be Balladeer, albeit refined. So, lest my hopes be forthwith bashed in I'll sit back and await your chuckling grin For you to tell me who the third one is, and name the real "sunshine" within! 19 August, 1999 ©KRJ ------------------ Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. ~~~ KRJ Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

The three named here Know who they are..... Don't miss that opening line, for it's a clue. This poem goes back several months, before these forums existed. Who could these three poets be? Think about it |

Forgive me for being the tardy one, but I don't hang out here often because my mind is mostly in the gutter of the Adult Forum..LOL! Just kidding if that offends anyone. *Big smiles* So..I am going to guess.. The one on bended knee, Phoenix, and offering of coat= The excellent PoetDevine. The Sunshine= Who else but Nan!! Where has she been lately? The robed one=Micheal. *Of course, I may have some unfair advantage here. |

Jeeze, Ron, I was fishing back here and look what I found...you never told anyone the answer, and well you know me, I couldn't let that go now could I? ------------------ Michael Anderson Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? Temptress cheated! But, of course, she was completely accurate. Oh, and her "unfair advantage" was that she happened to be there at the time... |
