Etched

They say-Follow your heart..!
How do I?
When the depth of the decay
Has eroded my instincts?
I look at myself
And see a stranger
--etched smile
A shrivelled shell of what is left..
Getting weary trying to trust
the truth that makes sense.
Even the dregs of the self
have been brutally snatched..
And I drain my saps
Desperate-for Grace
Despite the vice...

Elvira,
Your response inspired me to go back & read all your poems posted on the forum...I was tempted to respond to each one of them...

Talent born-with or acquired
mirrors the goodness required..

You are a real gifted poet...Keep up the great work & keep 'em coming...

Moonmoon, I really hope your rough patch passes soon. Keep writing, because it will help - and because we would like to read more of your work.
