rain falling in distortion upon crystal panes (as I watch, coffee warming my fingers) the ocean crashing thunderously punishing the sandy beach as it leaves tell tale signs behind seaweed and pieces of life strewn upon the beach like scattered seeds upon the soil the sand soaks the rain drops up in thirsty drips while the seagulls swoop and cry against the storm against the coming night picking through the wreckage on the sandy shore hunting for a scrap for something to fulfill their hunger on here and there the sun pokes holes in the clouds attempting to arrest the storm before it hits full force finally the clouds part revealing a fresh scrubbed terrain so sweet and new smelling as I grab my coat and head to see what nature's fury has left in her wake ------------------ "I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than to be crowded on a velvet cushion." .....Henry David Thoreau |
