The Steamy Desert

I want you to love me with passion.
I want to feel my heart race again from your touch,
Loose my breath from your kiss,
Drown in the depths of your eyes
Smoldering with love and desire.
I want to lie in your arms,
Feel your heart beat,
Listen to the sound of you breathing as you touch me gently.
I want to know all your souls secrets, all your fears.
I want to know your hopes and dreams,
Your fondest memories, your wildest desires.
I want to be your lover and your best friend,
Your strength when you are weak,
Your support when you are strong.
I want to love you through the good and the bad.
I want to walk on beaches hand in hand with you,
And watch the sun set over the mountains in the desert.
I want to travel lifes roads with you at my side.
I want to age with you,
And wake up some day years and years away to you,
Lying by my side,
And whisper in your ear…
“I want you to love me with passion…”

Thank you both for the comments...as I said in Learning to Love...I am new at free verse, (me the rhyming queen!), and any comments are so appreciated. I'm glad someone liked this!

Wow, I am just about breathless. There is a LOT of passion and feeling in this poem and it is well written. I can really relate to this!

This was wonderful ... your passion comes through strongly, but it is tempered by something slow-burning and long-lasting ... what a lovely poem and a lovely feeling.

I think I will go and write a poem for my love now ...

Ah, The wonderful response. I am truly flattered. After reading the reply's I thought I would give a bit of background, I am not one to usually write in free verse, but I wrote these words a few years back for a man I was had fallen in love with to portray how deeply my feelings for him had began to run. I wanted to portray all that I wanted to share, what a real relationship meant to me, how much we would be a part of one another's lives. I hoped he would see that my feelings were not just for the heat of the moment, but for a lifetime, and that though our lives had once been seperate, I now wanted them to intertwine. I think it worked, we've been married almost two years now, and I still feel this is our mantra of sorts. I often fall asleep whispering the words "I want you to love me with passion" in his ears, and he always knows how those words signify all we share.
