Iv in her arm, a prayer in her heart She shifts to her side, and concentrates hard. Pains so intense she wants to scream, then her husband takes her hand; he says remember your dream. She smiles through a grimace and imagines the precious child And that helps her work through the pain for a while. About to pass out because it was just all too much, The doctor came in and gave her some drugs. Thanking God for relief she closes her eyes then opens them quick as an alarm loudly cries. Then all went so fast she could hardly understand The nurse looked distraut; the doctor took her hand. He said "look, I'm afraid your baby might die if you don't allow me to swiftly go inside- And take your dear child, we have to try!" The next half an hour was to her a nightmare, Her husband faithfully ran his fingers through her hair. She screamed as they cut her, she screamed out in pain, Apparently the doctors didn't believe her insistent claim. It was a horror how she felt the sharp blade, Cut through her belly down to her dying babe. But she held on in spite of the gore, To hear the first cries of the baby she bore. At last she went numb as her heart swelled inside, Little Logan pulled through and began his new life. |
