With voices of the nightingale, the bards they speak of love Not with words of mortals, but thoughts from god's above They speak of Helen's beauty, that launched a thousand ships In vain I try to mimic, but speak with mortal lips For I have met my Venus, she comes in still of night Sweet flower of the heavens, outshines the welkin's light I've supped her lips of rose' wine, caressed her in my arms And tho' alas, a mortal be, have felt her goddess charms Come to me my Dulcinea, thou beauty doth entwine Entice me with your nectar sweet, with tastes of fragrant wine Quench the yearnings deep inside, desires you instill With pleasures of your satin bloom, mine passion cup you fill Then softly steal into the night, amongst the rising mist For I am thine, my heart doth feel, as if by heaven kissed. |

what a classically written piece of work. It feels like a timeless classic inthe present. Absolutely the best love poem I have read yet! Keep those coming! |

gotta tell ya, Mike. This is better than good. the sentences are excellent, the meter is first class, the rhyme scheme is exact, and the vocabulary is top notch (other than that, it's a lousy poem). I can really admire someone who put this much effort into his work. Nice job! |

How could I have missed this when it was posted, I'm not quite sure, but it was truly my loss. Wonderful work! |

Aaahhh...now this is truly worth all my efforts. As most all knew, I was gone for nearly 10 days to the ocean, and knew I missed some good stuff! Here I am, scrolling back over nearly 20 pgs. that flew by while I was gone, and I find a masterpiece such as this....back to the top it goes, I agree with Balladeer, it's lousy if it weren't for all the perfection!! Beautiful ! ~ blowing kisses~ ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..." Henrik Ibsen (1826-1906) Norwegian dramatist lyric poet |
