The pen is never silent when The heart drives it across the page. You never know whom you may touch, On some distant day. The only thing that's guaranteed, Is no one will know that you've been there, If you silence what's in your heart Because you thought that no one cared. You haven't the gift to see the future, Or to know who'll pass this way. So, leave the echoes of your heart, Where they'll be heard to say.... I was here, and I cared enough, To give with all my heart. Even when I felt it wasn't good enough, I still left you the sweetest part. The person who reads your words, May be wondering if they've the will, To strive a little harder as they, Climb up their own hill. And even if just one person reads, Only one thought from your heart, If it restores the hope he's lost, Then your pen has done it's part. I could not agree more Long John ------------------ "Nobody has measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold" ~Zelda Fitzgerald |

When I was a teenager, I was encouraged to keep Jounals in school, which I did for many many years...even into the early years of marriage in the 70's. Someone stumbled upon my writings, and I felt betrayed...and destroyed them all, and never wrote with a passion again. I think it is so important to write. Don't give up yet if you are struggling, your gift may just be blossoming into a beautiful gift. Don't let anyone discourage you like I was!! |

Wonderful! I couldn't agree more. Write, write, write. With time and work, the poetry gets better. I have some poems I would be embarrassed to post they are so bad! Someone asked me once which of my poems I thought was the best. I said "The next one"..... |

Dear Mister Silver I am honored that you have taken the time and used your eloquent skill to pen this poem for my edification. I agree entirely with the sentiments contained within it. While it is true that I will not be posting in the open forum for a while this is only due to the fact that I have started lessons in the Critical Forum, where I hope, in time, to learn the necessary skills to once more participate within these hallowed halls. Thank you for the thought and words. |

Yanno, sailor... you wield your pen with such wit in those skirmishes with your pals... I sometimes forget just how much your words can touch. And I shouldn't... after all, you wrote a poem about a farmer allowing his tools to rust that literally changed my life. *S* |
