Don’t tell me that your love will stay,
I know this is a lie.
For all the feelings you hold at bay,
The least you could do is try.

You long to see the light in others’ eyes,
But neglect the light in your own,
Their hearts amass to you like flies,
Their growing love, eventually shown.

Like leading on the blind,
You do with your golden tongue.
Blissfully unaware of your created bind,
A true release of feelings, their hearts lay wrung.

You look at the pieces of shattered hearts,
Never knowing what to say,
Not believing that you could play a part
In destroying them in every way.

Stop for a minute and look around,
At what you’ve left behind.
Broken dreams and emptiness abound,
All caused by words you thought were kind.

One day I hope you will see,
What your silken words have wrought.
Left alone in your own pain you will be,
Finally realizing your kind words were all for naught.

Ah, the silk tongued devil who knows not his sin. Beware such as he. Well written Satiate.

One needs to take responsibility for words as well as actions, as you so ably point out.

Illuminating, Satiate. Thank you.
