She said she was sorry and started to cry She said it just happened, she didn’t know why She said she’d not loved him, she only loved me She said she’d not stray again ever - I’d see But I pictured their passionate times in my mind And I searched for forgiveness but none could I find I knew if she loved me then surely she’d see That her moments with him brought us both misery So I pulled from her grasp and I just walked away And the dreams that we shared were forgotten that day Though she’d asked for forgiveness I just had to find A love I could count on to truly be mine sandman (a repost) |

Tough one, Fred. Can one forgive and forget or not. Poets say yes, many people say no. You're a poet who says no, in an extremely well written way. Good poems provoke thought. This poem does that. Nice job. |

Wow, that was written so well. I fear this sooo much, but I feel the words you wrote. It sure is a frightening subject to say the least. |

You hit this one on the head, Fred.... I should have been smart enough to leave when my "ex" did the same.. |

Been there - you really captured the tug and pull of emotions and build to the decision and then retreat from the pain into life again. Well done poem, I enjoyed it! |

my best friend has given me food for thought regarding that topic...what do you think about this philosophy?..."it's better not to tell, for the person who cheated only tries to lighten their own burden by confessing, and needlessly hurts the other partner" ------------------ If I had my mouth I would bite. If I had my liberty I would do my liking. In the mean time, let me be that I am, and seek not to alter me. ~~~Shakespeare~~~ |

i have been here a thousand times...a thousand and 1...it is sure to come...but with this on my mind...to the one who hurts me...forgiveness he'll ask...but as he does... i'll do the same...and walk away... feeling no pain.Thank you!I realize now that it is my choice wether i let it hurt or not.and if i so choose to be heart-broken...only for a minute...you will see.I'll walk away very happy. ------------------ We see only what we want to see~unless perhaps~we believe |

Beautifully done. Right from the heart...It is hard to tell when it is time to let go, no one can tell you but your heart..... ------------------ "And the day came, where the risk to remain tight in a bud, was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" |
