She never was quite like them She didn't quite fit in She thought there was no way To put her sadness to an end They would laugh and whisper Whenever she walked by She acted like she didn't care When she really wanted to cry She tried to be strong And hold her head up high It was so very hard She just wanted to die She never understood Why they hated her so She wanted to run away But she had nowhere to go If they only knew About all of her pain Maybe they'd be nicer And she could leave this cold rain [This message has been edited by CSwtThng (edited 07-28-99).] |

wow, this really hit me like a cannonball to the stomache. when i was in junior high, i knew a girl that everyone made fun of. they'd even throw rocks at her and put gum in her hair. when anyone tried to befriend her, everyone would treat them like they treated the girl. since i didn't want to be made fun of as bad as she was, i'd laugh at her when i was told to. just me laughing could put her into tears. i think she thought i was different, and i was for a while, but then the people at school started getting to me, and i couldn't take it. when i turned on her, she was really dissapointed, and i could see it in her eyes everytime i looked at her. if i could go back for just one day, i would be as nice to her as i possibly could. however, i can't turn back the clock, and i live thousands of miles away frome her now. here's my advice: IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHAT PEOPLE THINK FOR ONE DAY, WEEK, MONTH, OR EVEN A YEAR OR TWO. ONE DAY, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO REALIZE HOW STRONG YOU WERE TO STAND UP FOR ONE PERSON, INSTEAD OF THINKING YOU WERE WEAK FOR JOING IN. I'M HERE TO TESTIFY THAT THE WEAK PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO GIVE INTO PEER PRESSURE, AND THE STRONG ONES, THE GREAT PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, ARE THE ONES WHO BEGAN IN JUNIOR HIGH- STANDING UP FOR THEMSELVES AND SOMEONE ELSE. |

This poem should make think twice about the things you say to people. |

This poem really strikes a chord because I know people who act like the people in this poem. Maybe not quite as cruel, but hurtful just the same. |
