Ron Odom had but one eye It made it hard to see Every day he went to town Complaining bitterly "Woe is me, feel sorry for me For what I say is true Give to me another eye There's nothing I won't do." To Ron's town one sunny day There came a holy man Ten years growth upon his face And healing in his hands So did Ron begin to plead "O your most holy grace, I would like another eye So won't you touch my face?" With a sad and rueful smile Did the man comply He put his hands upon Ron's head And granted him an eye Then old Ron went dancing home Elated it was true Until he looked upon his eyes One brown, the other blue Straight back into town he went And with the man did speak "Look at what you've done to me! I look like some damn freak! Look at my eyes you stupid lout One brown and one blue You absolutely must fix it This just will not do!!" The man looked up and grinned at Ron Then he began to laugh "Such a fool I think you are But come, I'll make them match." Now Ron has but two black holes He's worse off than before Then again maybe he's not For he complains no more. ------------------ Steven Seaman |

Another Classic to be. Reminds me of the saying 'in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king ' only in reverse You keep posting them, I'll keep reading them. I bet you get tired before I do. |

well done...an enjoyable read, this story of greed ------------------ If I had my mouth I would bite. If I had my liberty I would do my liking. In the mean time, let me be that I am, and seek not to alter me. ~~~Shakespeare~~~ |

Oh, I love the story. I do like to see a not nice character get a kick in the butt instead of the pat on the back he expects to get. |
