Midnight, Earth! And no new day Beyond the waterfall of time; Only bone-dry, Rocky riverbeds To dust your tongue And rust your eyes. Midnight, Earth! And no new sun To rise and light your wicked path; Only brooding, silent Shadow shapes To beat the drums And cheat your soul. Midnight, Earth! And no new child To chart the course, to bear the torch; Only disenchanted Shells of dreams, The lies of youth, The price of truth. ------------------ William Haskins AKA The Mad Monk http://www.ionstorm.com/public/haskins/inner_sanctum.htm |
