Once upon a time in my youth, I came upon a shocking truth While out playing in the woods, I stumbled on this wondrous sight A sight I have only seen, in star filled nights, in my dreams As I stumbled to the ground, a hole in a tree is what I found Yet in the hole came to my sight, a wondrous work of sheer delight Fairies, inside the trunk of the tree quietly slipped on back, in fear of me? I guess they thought I would attack? The further back in the trunk they went I saw a image I'll never forget As white as the deep fallen snow, there a Unicorn, sat with a glow The Fairies gathered close to him, as if they needed his protection Its all right, do you understand? I would not hurt you with my hands, I could never hurt anyone, this kind of thing I've never done Unsure they could hear my words, I could not move from where I stood, The sight was so that it took my breath, as if a hole were in my chest Then the Fairies moved aside and the Unicorn came to me From out of the hole in the trunk of the tree. He grew bigger as he came out, 18 hands I would say about The horn on his head he wore like a crown, his snow covered coat gave off a glow, his main like icicles that shimmered so So beautiful was he to see, there are no words to describe this sight for me. I was so frightened that I could not move, I did not know what he would do Then in a whispering voice he said to me, "I am not a he, I am a she" Dears is the name given to me I asked her for forgiveness please, for she was something I had never seen not with waking eyes, only in my child like dreams Then Dears said to me, I am the last of my kind around, the Fairies keep a watch on me, together we live in peace and harmony Not many eyes come to see, the Fairies keeping watch on me, not many eyes do believe in Unicorns and Fairies I know this is a shock for you, though many times we have watched you play, in the forest glenn running about, we've seen you talking to the fish, and to the birds we've heard you wish, that one day you could fly as they, to sore the sky and back again This is truly you lucky day for finding Fairies is a wish come true, yes, and also true of a Unicorn too. And so this wish will be granted to you, and for your lifetime it shall see you through It was then the Fairies came out of the whole in the trunk of the tree, they spout with laughter and turned up noses they held to each other, and they smelled like roses Their tiny bodies and silver wings fluttered as they seemed to sing, voices that I know I've heard, and must have thought the song's of birds These Fairies I seen, were like nothing like in my dreams So beautiful the sight, I hope it never fades away, inside my memory I pray it stays One of the Fairies flew to my hand, it was in my palm she did gracefully land So tiny and cute, she appeared so dear, my eyes could hardly believe I was here She bowed and told me her name was Twill, she was the one who would cast my spell Like a witch? I asked with a frog in my throat They burst into laughter and began to float, up in the air, Fairies floating every where As their laughter rang I had no clue of what I said, or what I should do? Then Twill cried out your "Thrill not spell" and laughed so hard she almost fell Your thrill to fly, so you can sore with the birds, that is the wish that we have heard, you wish to fly like the bird Oh said I, "TO FLY", to touch the clouds in my hands, such dreams have I that this could be, such magic you have you can give this to me? Then Twill said aloud "I say to you that your wish be true" Just close your eyes and feel the sun and up, up and away you'll fly Soaring with the mighty birds, the mountain tops you'll crest, yes, you shall fly and be the best Then Dears bowed her head "Climb abroad" she said: we shall run to the place in the woods for your dream is waiting, your wish has begun, hurry now we have to run I climbed on Dreas back and through the forest on a Unicorn I ride, as the Fairies flew right by my side I came to the mountain top and never looked down, to the sky is I was bound, on top of the breeze, dancing floating up over the trees, "let go" Dreas hollered, let go and fly.... And so I did, sore through the sky! Such a gift of magic given to me, for looking in a hole in the trunk of a tree It seemed I flew for days and day's, with the little Fairies at my side and Dears looking up into the sky, such pride I could see in her eyes This is a day I shall never forget the day the Fairies and the Unicorn I met Now with happy memories, I look back often to this gift I received, and know that it has lead me to my quest For in the sky it is, I am my best And now it is each day on a silver bird I fly, with thousands of people who ride my wings, into the blue sky's and their wonderful dreams And I can see by the look in there eyes, if on a Unicorns back they happened to ride And if Fairies magic has touched their brow, as with me, it is with them now!
