sky pregnant in shades of grey swirling clouds being carried by angry winds whipped to a frenzy by nature's fury clouds burgeoning with rain air heavy in storm's pause waiting all nature attunes it's ear thunder crashes across the heavens shaking the earth to it's core electricity rippling through the atmosphere in sharp flashes of blue light as creation watches the birth of a storm trees relax against the wind's tumult as the swollen clouds gather force destruction's power cresting in a silent threat so imminent waves crash against the shore in noisy revolt while howling winds toss humanity aside like children's toys pieces of life laying across the earth's tattered skin as ths storm's fierce crescendo hits earth bucks against the waging elements from the steel sky refusing to go down silently nature screaming a plaintive cry rocks and life torn asunder leaving a wake of desolation in it's path the storm, spent in it's fury quiets cruel winds, still almost in awe of their own force rain ceases, as saturated earth draws breath peace once again as if the rape of the earth was just a dream the tentative calls of the birds float across the air in light wafts compared to the storm's decibel sun pokes it's fingers down to the soil in a furtive exploration trembling rays of light in the storm's wake clouds parting chased away by nature's resilience as hibernating life steps forth once more to pick up the pieces ------------------ Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.....Henry David Thoreau |
