I Wonder Why

When I listen to the radio,
and hear the songs of love they play,
I wonder why I am alone.

When I enjoy a movie show,
and see the love they all portray,
I wonder why I am alone.

When I see a novel grow,
and feel the joy of love’s cliche,
I wonder why I am alone.

I hear the songs and wonder why
the singers sing and poets lie,
and love is found in every nook,
and joy is lived in every book,
and life is sweet in every play,
and every day’s a holiday,
and all the truth is washed away ...

I wonder why I am alone.

The minstrel sings of autumn's song
a fall that seems so far away
In wonderment but not alone.
