If I were to let you into my Self, completely, individually, altogether, And be yours absolutely Would you own me? If I were to let you ridicule me And scorn me, tear me down And make me feel so miniscule Would you own me? If I were to fear you, and prostrate Myself beneath you Hold my breath to not displease you Would you own me? If I were to acquiesce, and try to tease you Cajole you, embrace you, expose to you how Wonderful you are Would you own me? Would you want to? ------------------ Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. KRJ |

Deep thoughts here, but never should someone own you. We are all individuals, we can share friendship, and love, but never should one possess it. |

This is something to think about. In this poem. Are you talking about yourself or are you talking about someone else owning or wanting to own you. It's a good poem and well written.I'm just not sure on that.Well happy writing. |

Lost Dreamer: You are correct. Delores: This poem came about after reading some other postings here at PiP. My readings indicate this is all some people want...to be loved so much, they lose their identity: thus, to be owned. In the very last line I had hoped to show that when someone loves themselves so little, they have nothing left for anyone TO love. I thank you both mightily for reading, and commenting. From your words, growth! ------------------ © KRJ 22 Jul 99 Sunshine Words will always express our feelings true. ~~~ KRJ Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
