Whenever I Close my Eyes

I close my eyes to once again see
That long forgotten night
When you were here with me
The night when the breeze,
Played a soft gentle song
When the night left too soon to the dawn.
I begged and pleaded with you
"please don't leave my side!"
But that was not to be
You said quitely,
"close your eyes my love this is where
I will always be with you.
No longer in day no longer in night
I will always be with you,
though never in sight."
So I closed my eyes and we kissed
one last time
That was the last time I touched her
But I see her all the time
Whenever I close my eyes.
