Listening to every heart

I thought of a rhyming word or two last night
which since faded with the new day’s light
Something about money, and state
and now the name of “Him” again, comes in the new twilight.

I never know when I will conjure up my very best thoughts anew
sometimes they seem plenty; other times too few.
Some folk call it writer’s block when the rhyming won’t come in;
I think it more like cajun stew; simmering among the din.

Oh yes, I remember: there was some consternation the other day;
folks going on about the separation of church and state!
And that’s when I thought of the money, and then thought it just:
why is it on the state’s green we find printed: “In God We Trust”?

good question, Sunshine. There are a lot of contradictions, aren't there?

man praying: "God, why didn't you save those children at Littleton?"

God: "I'm not allowed in schools."
