Have any of you ever visited BlueMountain.com? Fun place. Sends e-cards out for free. All kinds. So, my suggestion: Can we do that, and use our own verses for the message in the cards? I know Ron has already done something close to this, so I may be off base, and just haven't checked out his other stuff at netpoets.com thoroughly. That, coupled with the birthday list that everyone is going to get someday [LOL], will keep us busy just within the group, let alone the flocks of folk that will come, once they start getting personalized verses from Passions' friends. ------------------ Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Sunshine: I'll check this out and repost what I find out. Sounds like this birthday has great possibilities. ------------------ Julie ------------------------- ..."to thine own self be true." >William Shakespeare |

I think that's a great idea! It's another great way to get our work out there. People would come in looking for messages for greeting cards and maybe, just maybe, we could hook them onto our poetry. |

We could have a customized greeting card section...you can get them anywhere...attach to the main site...it would have a list of poems to choose from..a series of graphics and such...I used to have one on my web site.. I'll dig out the address and post it here... |

I am unclear about exactly what is wanted? Do we want a greeting card feature within the poetry forum or greeting card feature added to the poetry forums and/or discussion list? Just want Ron to get it like we would like it. ------------------ Julie ------------------------- ..."to thine own self be true." >William Shakespeare |

Lots of our forum poets seem to miss the many great offerings already available at the Passions main site.... While the Passions Greeting Cards section hasn't been updated recently, perhaps that's all it needs???? Check it out!! [This message has been edited by Nan (edited 09-23-1999).] |

Julie has encouraged me to address this topic, so I figured I'd better give it a shot. (I find the verb "encouraged" gets me in a lot less trouble than that other verb that comes to mind. And her "encouragement" was so tactful, too!) First, let's talk about the existing greeting cards at Passions. While it probably isn't readily apparent, I can absolutely guarantee you'll find those images no where else on the Internet (unless someone, uh, borrowed them). Each is the child of my camera (all of the models were real people, photographed in my own studio) and my computer (few, if any, of the backgrounds exist in real life). For those who don't know, art was my first great passion in life, and many of those greeting cards were as important to me (and as time consuming) as my poetry. And everyone knows how little of that I get a chance to write! In short, coming up with roughly 4,000 more like them is probably pushing it. But that's not to say we can't have "something" in the form of greeting cards. I'm just not sure what, yet. A link isn't going to cut it, though. I will tell you that one of the reasons I avoided replying to this topic before today is that there are a few surprises I have planned for the new software, ways that I hope will tie the main site and the forums closer together. There is a strength in each, lacking in the other, and if we can get a synergy developed I am convinced the sum will be far greater than the parts. I hate to give too much away at this point, both because I like surprises and because I don't have them fully implemented yet (and I hate to fall on my face in public ). I know we have several talented artists at the forums. Poet deVine is one. Darquewing is another. The new server is going to have lots of disk space. So - where do find about a thousand unique and pertinent images if that's the route everyone wants to take? |
