Rap and poetry having a few things in common, a rap board might add something new and different to the site. I've learned to type text freestyles (aka "keystyles" when typed), including for text battles (10 wins so far), and rapping clean shouldn't be too hard. It could be added to the adult content if need be; in fact, that'd be my recommendation, or perhaps two rap forums - one for the cleaner verses and one for the more "hardcore" underground-style ones with the explicit lyrics. I've actually typed a few rap verses, mostly for text battles (15 wins so far), and most of them wouldn't be suitable for the audience here, but I can come up with more appropriate lyrics. A friend of mine and I both had the same idea for clean rap battles - the same thing, but without the foul language and other adult subjects. The easy part is thinking of the rhymes - the hardest part of a battle is finding weaknesses in your opponent so you can lyrically slander them. Anyway, enough of my rambling... I'm into writing raps...in the past, I've headed what I want to 'battle', so that others can reply with their own. The time frame means that it's not 'freestyle', as there's time to think. What you're suggesting sounds more realistic...who gets the gong? |

I'll volunteer my age so you can have some perspective. Um, 56. Old, ya' know. I must confess if rap weren't so crude I'd listen to it. As is, I settle for religious rap as it's clean. At least what I like is. But here is my opinion. It has the potential to be the forum from hell for moderating language and content. Ultimately I suspect it would frustrate the writers based on the very origin of the genre. In my humble opinion. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, |
