With a dry sense of humour and laughter shared throughout the years,
A generous heart and a hand to wipe away my tears.
Anytime I needed advice to get on with my life,
My Dad was there with pearls of wisdom or to get me out of strife.
Off to Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay we'd go,
Dad's reason, "These are special and magical places don't you know?"
He taught me to appreciate and see the beauty in so many things,
And I'm a better person for the knowledge that learning brings.
I grew to understand and share these many things with him,
The many hours 'round the piano, those memories will never dim.
As the years rolled by my life it changed again,
And Dad was always there as a grandparent, helper and friend.
A lifetime of love and caring, understanding and so much more,
He is such a special man right down to the core.
Thankyou Dad for all those special moments we shared,
The god, the bad and showing us you cared.
But most of all thankyou for being MY Dad.

A lovely piece of your heart for your father, Isis. The line "The many hours 'round the piano..." brought my own memories back, of singing with my dad. We don't sing anymore.
I miss it.
