Each day that breaks new, new fantasies are begotten,
stolen like glances from afar; harmless, yes--
tears of yesterday now gone and forgotten,
My true redemption has been made flesh.

I cannot help but wonder, how can this be?
You, in all your splendor, here now with me;
I marvel at what joy I now know because of you-
you have made all tired things new;
you, the reformer; savior of my passion,
the rescuer of my soul from futile concession!

Possibilties have never been more unbound,
nor so focused in a new direction;
having known of being lost, now suddenly found,
I flee into your arms, to a fount of protection.

Yours are the arms I want to awake in;
your lips, to kiss without reservation.
Yours are the eyes I want to get lost in,
your touch brings my soul to complete restoration.

Never were even roses so beautiful and bold.
In your absence, patience becomes demanding;
Thus I wrap your memory around me, like a robe,
fantasies are delivered at my thought's commanding.

Would that you were here, and always so,
within these borders where I exist now, alone
Could this ever be? And will I ever know
The unbounding joy of you at my side, always,
walking in step with me, wherever I would go?

You are not some passing delusion;
this I already know well--
mind and heart's desire meld in close collusion
I endeavor to be under your spell…

… until I see you approaching,
Until beds down the light of day,
Let's sing to each other of the night, unbound,
While we sweep its dark away.
