My sweet inspiration
elusive
fragile
merely
a drop of moisture
upon those great
seas of talent
heaving swells
of finest thought
while my waves
lap gently
at the shore
unnoticed
unclaimed
Voices of words
screech like gulls
soaring above the world
inspiring minds
with the need to fly
while my words trickle gently
like pebbles from
a heedless hand
Yet if on the
shores of poetry
one small pebble
is held close
to a single heart
and one touch
of sweet inspiration
I have made
then a simple treasure
is caught forever
under those echoes
of gulls
and a drop
of ocean water
becomes a jewel

Beautiful Severn, I feel quite the same.

This is beautiful! I love the idea that your poetry is a pebble on the shore of poetry! Great imagery!

Ah lass, your words hardly "trickle by" this heart. You have more than once inspired me, so watch as the drop of water, turns into a sparkling jewel.

Thanks so much to everyone! Your support is very much appreciated - we're all jewels here on our own shore of poetry.
U K hero - I'm not sure actually, it just kind of comes from nowhere

Let me repeat! You are the Picasso of poetry!

When u said...

I have made
then a simple treasure
is caught forever
under those echoes
of gulls
and a drop
of ocean water
becomes a jewel

I was bewildered by all those tiny, sharp pieces you can fit together so deftly. Just describing the ocean water as a jewel makes me think of the sun shining on the water. Loved this one, friend.
