Today I felt so lost again,
Nor sun above, nor world below,
Nor laugh could set my heart aglow,
Thoughts of grief my joy had slain.

Was my fight for strength in vain?
Am I too scared to let love grow?
Why must I leap before the blow?
How do I stay and yet refrain?

These thoughts could make me go insane,
They climb with me to each plateau.
It fills my breaking heart with woe,
Yet I'm too scared of loss, to gain.

What the future holds I do not see,
But oh let my love be there with me?

Angel

Angel, I enjoyed this. I particularly liked the line, 'Yet I'm too scared of loss, to gain. Very well put!

This is a well thought out and very well written poem, a joy to read.

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.
