If wealth and fame are treasures true Why do they last but days so few; If things possessed could quench a soul Would it then seek no higher goal? If life is but these days not long Why sings my soul sweet heaven's song; If here and now are all we've got Then haven't we a sorry lot? If it were not for His great grace Would hungry hearts still seek His face; If His great love did not appear What then could save man from his fear? If there be not eternity Why does He sing to you, to me Such peaceful soothing strains of love ...Pure rhapsody from up above? So graciously He beckons all; So blessed are they who hear His call. ------------------ Denise |

Beautiful! These sort of poems are my all time favorite. ------------------ "Glory remains unaware of my neglected dwelling where alone I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me." -Charles Brugnot |

You ask the perfect question......why, indeed? There's gotta be a reason somewhere. Thank you for your words. |

Good piece here and good peace here. It really speaks to and soothes the spirit. I feel much better now. I needed that. ------------------ Words lay dormant in the recesses of the mind til called forth to a labor of love. By WildChild |

Lady D: Although I do not possess a solid belief in the heaven / hell hereafter, I do believe in an existence after this one, that there is some ultimate being (God if you will) and that there is some higher purpose to our individual and collective lives. That said, your poem still spoke to me. I enjoyed your poem very much. It has a peaceful quality that comes with the assurance of your convictions. Thank you for sharing. |
