I willingly entangle myself
In a landscape of gnarled spruce trees
With a vain longing for heaven
And a deep chasm of strangeness.
He looks at me with half-closed eyes
But consolation today is not to be mine.
For a lifetime of emotional borrowings
Has left me all but bankrupt.
And the answer is not about meaning
Or the measure of success
But rather, where the disappointment lies
When it is contrast that paints our skies.

...a lifetime of emotional borrowings has left me all but bankrupt... Very strong words in this piece. I admire it very much.

So much said with so few, but powerful words! Very well done, Soleil!

Enjoyed this poem very much. Totally understood "a lifetime of emotional borrowings....has left me all but bankrupt."
I have turned a similar phrase in my life. "A pitcher poured from often soon stands empty." Well done.
