They're just words they shouldn't hurt,
Said unthinkingly by another,
But they pain my soul and cloud my day,
Why do people do this to each other?

It was only 8 little words,
Yet you hit the mark, you scored,
You achieved your goal of hurting me,
You severed a heart chord.

I did nothing to deserve this hurt
Nothing to earn this pain,
Yet foolishly I take it,
And come back for you to do it again.

Why bother being hurtful?
Our lives should be filled with love.
How many times I've prayed for this,
For some strength from up above.

Does it make you feel strong and manly,
In control of your domain?
Why do you even bother
To open old wounds again?

I took it today like I always do,
Suffering in silence and in pain,
I pray one day you will learn,
And not be so hurtful again...

I was captivated!
This is one of the best entries I've read in a while!

I'm so sorry if you're truly being hurt like that. I guess you must be, because you can only write like that from the heart. I only hope that whoever hurts you can read these words, and if they feel like I did they'd never hurt you again.

Isis you did really good with this. Your rhythm and rhyme are good. I'm sorry you have been hurt like this too, words do cut deep. Things people say can stay with us for a really long time. We need to be careful with our unruly tongues. Sorry Friend that you have been hurt.

I really wish I understood why it is that we always hurt the ones we love. I am going through a similar situation with someone I care for very deeply. We never intend to hurt one another but somehow we always manage to.
