Our whispered words to one another,
Of love and hope and sharing,
An excitement so unreal,
We worry how the other will feel.

I am not afraid to say the words,
If they are real,
With you standing before me,
Waiting for my words, my touch, returned.

We think 'can this be it?',
All day and night long,
Missing the other,
Though we've not met.

Will you be the one,
To soften the daily blow,
To become all I live for,
And will you return the same?

All day, and every day, you grow closer,
Comfortably closer,
A warm blanket by the fire,
Cold feet touching,
Playing.

Into the wind,
A soft 'I love you',
It's time now due,
Our message confirmed.

Tyson...again you leave me with tears in my eyes, not tears of sadness, but rather tears of joy, tears of longing. This is beautiful and your words, your feelings travel across time and distance to touch my heart. "Comfortably closer...", I could not have said it better. Thank you for this and for so much more...especially for allowing me to feel again.
Hugs
Ruth

It is wonderful to see the love and
friendship blossoming right in front
of our eyes...and you hoot...well none
could be more deserving.

Arrgh!
Sigh.
Grrr...
As you can see, a panopoly of emotions running through my head. On the one hand, I am amazed by this beautiful poetry...sigh... but on the other hand...IT'S DISGUSTING!!! I want evil destruction and pillaging! C'mon guys! A challenge to all you lovesick puppies: Write the most terribly depressing poem you can think of...

(nicely done john, as you can tell it really got me going!)

Christopher,
O.K. Here it is. It ain't much, but here it is. I hope you don't mind camp and cheese with your depression. I don't do full depression without a little camp and cheese. My heart is just not into depression right now.

Dark, twisted strands of long distance wind,
A signal of
My loneliness without you,
A calling into that silent night,
With no answer in return.

Nothingness.

I must pretend you are by my side,
Knowing deep down,
Our distance will never be bridged,
Like a long plunge into cold oblivion,
Never to be greeted by the warmth of you.

Like the blackest of churned up seas,
An unwelcome thought springs from below,
That we shall never, ever meet,
My fair, invisible honey.

I am versed in free style alone,
To this empty day.
Yet I beg of you, Fate,
Make me free no more,
If only for the sake of me and mine, to be together,
Evermore.

(You know how much I really do miss you, and want to meet you. Please don't take this one to heart. I hope you can find a little humor in our long distance loneliness. I have to. See you soon, darling.)

Sorry about the two above. My mistake.

Ruth,
You know you are allowing me to feel again, too. I love that you love my poems to you. Thanks for all of your beautiful work, too. Take care.

Rainbow, Caroline, Nan, Julie, Christopher,
Thank you all for your kind words. I think I enjoy all of your peoms the same. Take care.

p.s. Christopher, after rereading my 'challenge' peom, it just isn't dark enough for me. Maybe not even cheesy...Oh God, do I write cheesy all the time or do I not allow myself to write cheesy ever...I'm so confused now...thanks a lot!!!!

Quite allright John... I couldn't seem to muster up the depression quite as much as I would have liked to either... and mine was about "her" too...
Guess we're just terminal!
