a creature of mist and light
bent down from heaven to see
what earth held on her frail skin
to unravel life's mystery
there he felt a lonely heart's cry
there he met the dark side
in the winter heart of a woman

in his soul he heard her pain
on her lips he met the sun
heaven and hell in just one kiss
and though foolishly she tried
to hold him there
a creature of dream and flight
but loving him was like holding the sea
strong and wild and free

in the dark of a starless night
he spread his wings
to cover her in sleep
and brushed a feather kiss
across her brow
touched her one last time
he wished for a gift he could not have
and left his angel's heart
resting in his lover's sleep
while upwind drafts of heaven's storms
carried him back to his domain

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints in our heart and we are never ever the same.

Thank you all for leaving footprints!!

Lizzy,
You give so freely of your gems,
You must have a mine full of them.
