Love Wasn’t Enough ©1998 by Genea Parker She was the first one to know I was the next woman you’d leave. I never even considered This would ever happen to me. Where did you meet her? And how long has it been? Oh, don’t repeat the story I don’t want to hear it again. I thought I was the one You were always thinking of I was so wrong, Love wasn’t enough. The first shall be last It was written long ago The one who loves best Is often the last to know. You told me I was the first Woman you really loved. I didn’t know I’d be the last To find out – love wasn’t enough. She’s known all along One day we’d be through While I thought forever Was meant for me and you. I thought I was the one You were always thinking of I was so wrong, Love wasn’t enough. |

Good job, Genea. Glad to know this is but a memory. Without life and everything that comes with it, we'd be a dull bunch of poets, well, except, of course, for certain folk out there who like fruit, and sheep. |

Genea, You can't have sunshine without darkness. And you can't have darkness without sunshine. Does that make sense? Nice poem. |

Sunshine, Yes, sometimes those memories creep back in and just BEG to be put into words, dont they? Makes us interesting and unique and yet sometimes we find a kindred spirit in our memories. Seymour, Yes it makes perfect sense! Thanks to both for taking time to read. |
