For You I would be as gentle as the snow That lights as soft, as quietly As music on a failing ear, As rain falls on a silent sea. I would be still as leaves along a windless path, as still as death. And yet, as still as water is At midnight, or as babies' breath. I would be tender as the grass That pushes up in early spring; As tender as a mother's touch, Or tears a child's lost dream might bring. I would be true, as friends are true, Each to the other's heart; I would Make honesty my signature, And faithfulness my heart's lifeblood. I would be gentle, I would be Still, and tender, and always true. I would be all things that are good If I could be them all for you. © Beki (1989) ------------------ "We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.....the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?" --John Keating, Dead Poets Society |

All righty then - Beki - You definitely have my quill on the move.... This is not only a great love poem, but it's one giant sequential simile as well.... |
