Hi whoever...for some reason my email notification of replies has not been working since yesterday. I checked in edit to make sure I had checked it and I had. Any suggestions? |

Anyone else? If the problem is on our server, this should be happening to everyone. Your Notifications aren't bouncing, Martie, or I'd see them in my email box. Are you getting other mail to your AOL box? |

Karilea, Kacy's problem in that post is just the opposite - she can receive email fine, but can't send it because of a problem with her ISP. Martie, the "Email Notices" prompt in your profile doesn't have anything to do with reply Notifications. Ostensibly, that's there as "permission" if I ever wanted to do a mass mailing to all the Members. It's never been used. To get notified when someone posts a response, you need to check the appropriate box when you make the originating post, just as you did for this thread. And you have to do it for each originating post when you want to notified. Are you receiving notifications for this thread? |

I'm afraid I don't have any answers, Martie. If is were me, I'd probably wait another day, and not be too surprised if all your Notifications arrived suddenly and all together. Email servers do strange things at times. If it hasn't corrected itself in the next 24 hours, I would probably get an email account at (shudder) yahoo or hotmail, just to see if that works. If it did (and I suspect it would), I would write AOL and yell a little bit. They may have recently turned on one of their infamous filters and be "protecting" you from what they see as SPAM. If you verify the Notifications can get to you through a free email account, then that should convince AOL the problem is at their end. |

They probably thought you were being spammed and blocked the emails...as they did the acceptance emails from Harvard. |

This may not have anything to do with Martie's problem, but I read a notice yesterday that AOL has a huge bug in it, and is wide open to hackers until they fix the problem. My server is working right now, but not 100% level. It seems to get 'logjammed.' My ISP is through an Alaska school district homeschool site, and we may need a server upgrade. Glad I'm not in charge of fixing it! [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (01-03-2002 12:34 PM).] |
