Ron, back on 11/8/2000 I went into the Archives and replied to poems to add to my library that were in older forums prior to us having that feature.. for example I went into Open 6 and put about 10 poems in my library... I just noticed the other day they are all gone..I have no saved poetry for open 6 at all...I know they were still there back in March as I used my library to locate several of them for a post in Pip lounge...but thats the last time I know for sure they were there... What I was wondering is does our Library have a limit to the number of random forum saved poems they can hold? and if I surpass that does it kick out the older poems/forums? I tried to see if this topic was already covered in both here and Q&A but so many of the thread titles dont tell what the topic or question is... so Im sorry if this is a redundant subject. Thanks for your time, JM |

The limitation, Janet, isn't in the Personal Library - you can theoretically have as many entries as you like - but rather, the limitation you've discovered is in the Archived forums. You may remember a time when we lost access to the Archives for several months because the web server ran out of disk space? The solution to that problem was to make the Archives only available "on demand." When you click on a link in a current forum, like Open #14, the web page already exists and comes up fast. But when you click on a link in an Archive forum, the web page is built then and there, from our database, and only exists for a relatively limited time. If you bookmark the web page, or add it to your Personal Library, it will only be valid until the next maintenance sweep (typically a monthly procedure). Then the web page disappears, though the poem still exists in our database - ready to be recreated for the next "on demand" reader. With the size of our existing database, this is the only possible way to keep everything always available. |
