At first I wasn’t sure if this should go in Q&A or the suggestion box, but I think it's more along the lines of a suggestion...but then I thought that Ron would check HERE first after the switchover and so… er.. uh, hi, there's other people here, right.. I forgot, sorry . ANYway, Ron, I really like that you can't 'bump' your own posts to the top anymore via a self-produced reply. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to cause the folder to turn red in that case. The color change would be an indicator that the thread had been modified, without it overlapping the new posts (I always like to run back over threads where I’ve replied to see if the original ‘postee’ has given me a reply). A quick glance for that alteration of color would be very convenient, without drawing a great deal of attention from those who were not looking for that particular thread in the first place. What do you think? What do the rest of you think? ~ Beth [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Cor (edited 02-01-2001).] |

i like it, beth.... you're one smart lady, y'know? don't know if it can be done or not, but it sounds like a great idea to me.... i also keep track of threads for the exact same reason...it's how we all communicate with each other and sometimes i truly enjoy it when my comments are acknowledged by the poet, especially when i've said something really stupid and they think it's funny *g (oh btw, you gonna post your pig poem? ) |

I agree, it's a great idea. I'm just not sure it's feasible, since position and colored folders both depend on the date/time stamp. I will, however, look into it. As I mentioned on the intro page, there were a lot of things I was working on that simply didn't make it into this release because of time constraints. One of those was an enhancement to the Email Notification system. When you originate a post, of course, you can ask Athena to email you when someone replies. What if you could do essentially the same thing when you reply - ask Athena to email you when either the author or anyone else (your choice) added to the thread? That might make it a little easier to track your own replies… |

that is done at other forums, ron.... you can choose to be notified when anyone responds to ANY thread, whether it's yours or not, and also the notification comes as a direct URL to the actual thread, not just to the main page.... trying to remember which forums these are but if you're interested, i can figure it out and let you know... at least it's certain that it CAN be done ....i think it's AMAZING how many new features you've added and this is really fabulous... thank you so much |

I am with Dori on this one...I want people to know I've responded to their comments, critiques, whatever...and I've learned to do them in lumps....versus one by one...{~,^} I DO like either the colored folder idea OR your idea, Ron.... My mom always taught me to make sure I say "thanks"....and I do want people to know that I've read their replies... What if we all have to swear we won't do it for self-gratification?...LOL {~,^} I'll even make up the certificates, give the oath, and notarize the document....[well, maybe if I can get Denise in here to help me...] [ow! Ron, take that wet noodle back!] |

Awesome! I'm glad this idea is such a hit. About the e-mail idea... this would be feasible to anyone who doesn't mind getting that extra mail. Which is the only reason I shy away from this proposal: I personally do not like getting an e-mail every time a response to one of my posts is made. For this reason, the red folder (or a similar design) seems to me to be more collectively friendly, if it is a possibility. So... does anyone else have any other suggestions? Ron, Thank You for taking the time on this. OH! And can I kiss your feet for one little bug that's been taken out that use to drive me up a WALL? Whenever I would edit my responses, all the smilies would move over a space, and I'd have to go back through the whole post (and like mine are ever short... HA!) and delete the "smilie spaces"... but now it's GONE! *does an extra-special happy dance* Biggest pet peeve I had here...magically removed. *smooch* *smooch* *smoo... eww! What is that? Ron, do you have a dog??? *gag* *hack* *hack* *cough* *splutter* ~wipes tongue on sleeve~ .....*smooch* *smooch* *smooch*...etc.,etc. ~ Beth [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Cor (edited 02-01-2001).] |
