Ron, here: /pip/Forum65/HTML/000001.html I was trying to place some javascript in the code tag... but nothing? It all seems to be stripped out. Is there another command to use, or a different way to approach this? Thanks, C |

I broke it. We've never really needed the code tag before, so I've done nothing about it, but I really hate the way it works. You may have seen examples at SEF or GHT where it forces horizontal scroll bars because of line length, making a thread almost impossible to read - trying to read something by scrolling first to the right, then back to left, then to the right again, then down a screen and back to left, can be a bit infuriating. Everything in the code is also really, really tough to copy & paste, which almost defeats the purpose of having it. All in all, it really sucks. So, I decided to change it. My idea was to embed a TEXT prompt right in the middle of the post, with the code placed inside the text box. Any scrolling would then be inside the text box, not the whole thread, and it would be a breeze to cut & paste. Trouble is, I ran out of time. The old feature is gone and the new one hasn't quite been written yet. So, sweet and short, there is no code tag. Yet. Ya know, come to think of it, Chris, I suddenly remembered what resolution you're using (from the Troubleshooting Report you sent) and it occurred to me - you probably don't even know what a horizontal scroll bar is, do you? |
